Phil Dickson - Commercial Director

Phil became a Director of Associated Training in 1989 and grew the business from a small team of 4 delivering to local clients in the North of England to a multimillion-pound operation, of 28 people, delivering to global clients in every industry sector.

A key designer of innovative Management, Leadership and Team Development programmes, Phil frequently underpins such commercially strategic solutions with in-depth research, outdoor activities and commercial themes. Such highly engaging and interactive tasks and challenges re-energize teams and allow practical experimentation and experiential learning whilst further developing team performance and dynamics.

Dave Jackson - Head of Learning & Development

Dave has over 8 years experience working within the training industry. He has gained an in-depth knowledge of learning and development in a variety of sectors including finance, energy & logistics.

In late 2009 Dave joined Associated Training and Consultancy as a learning and development consultant mainly focusing on selling skills, customer care and management development based training solutions. Since joining the team, Dave has delivered bespoke leadership development programmes to Tarmac, H M Prison Service and an African International Banking consortium in Dubai.

As an NLP Master he uses the latest techniques in communication to reinforce learning, ensuring that the information is retained and embedded. Using a range of skills, techniques and enthusiasm, Dave delivers high energy training session that motivates delegates.

Jonathan Pulleyn - Sales Director and Management Consultant

In 1992 Jonathan joined Associated Training and Consultancy as a sales and management trainer and has developed an impressive client base, including blue chip organisations such as News International, Nestle, Atlas Copco Tools, Pretty Polly, Diebold, Sesame Plc, Threshers, Hallmark Cards and Crown Relocations; and in the public sector, Oxford City Council and Derbyshire Constabulary.

A licensed LIFO practitioner, Jonathan's memorable, down to earth and motivational delivery style has meant his many clients have returned for further development as their careers have progressed over the last 2 decades, commissioning Associated Training and Consultancy to help develop not only their careers but also the careers of their staff.

Mel Scurrah - Senior Learning & Development Consultant

Mel is our most senior learning and development consultant having been in the training field for over thirty years, following several years gaining first hand experience in operational front line supervisory and managerial roles. Through this, Mel has considerable experience in the design and delivery of training solutions within the mail order, retail, distribution, heavy engineering and construction industries.

His career experience includes managing training functions, with accountability for considerable investment expenditure in training. Mel therefore fully understands and supports the need for organisations to gain value from their training investments.

During his career, Mel has acquired considerable experience in all aspects of the training cycle, from the design and implementation of job instructor networks at operative level, to designing and delivering bespoke training solutions to meet specific training and development needs at all levels of management. These programmes are often complemented by individual coaching, where Mel is in increasing demand for this type of ongoing support.

Julie Thomas - Learning & Development Consultant

Julie worked within the retail industry for over 10 years, gaining an in-depth knowledge of sales, training, field marketing and distribution along the way. Starting her career in 1998 as a sales assistant with DSGi International, Julie was awarded Sales Person of the Year 2004-2005 within the company, which led to her promotion to the assistant manager position within several Dixons and Currys stores around the country. Towards the end of her career with DSGi International, Julie embarked on numerous training projects within the group, including the launch of a new insurance service which involved training, mentoring and coaching over 5,000 members of staff and managing the successful roll out of the new service proposition.

In early 2009 Julie joined Associated Training and Consultancy as a learning and development consultant mainly focusing on selling skills, customer care and management development programmes.

Martin Sharp - Business Consultant

Martin has over twenty years of business experience in quality systems consultancy, market research, market planning and sales development. His marketing experience was developed in a multi-national engineering organisation; he then moved into developing business in markets throughout Europe for a leisure equipment manufacturer.

Martin joined Associated Training and Consultancy in July 1990 initially as a marketing consultant, quickly developing his aptitude for quality management and quality systems implementation. His work involves developing and implementing effective quality systems (such as ISO 9000), encouraging a Total Quality Culture, analysing costs of quality and carrying out customer audits for clients.
